CHARTER OF SERVICES

City of Genoni - P.AR.C 1

P.AR.C. - Paleo Archeo Centro

Service Charter and Museum visitors rights

This charter of services and Museum visitor rights is inspired by the definition of museum given in the Decree. No. 41 of 22 January 2004 SO-CALLED "New Code of Cultural Heritage" art.101, paragraph 2: "museum" a permanent structure that acquires, conserves, orders and exposes cultural heritage for educational purposes and study. Each museum has the duty to preserve and make possible the public’s interaction with the cultural heritage it preserves for educational, recreational, and public enjoyment purposes. (Art. 102 of Legislative Decree. No. 41, 22 January 2004).
The Ministry of Cultural Affairs has issued an "Act to address the technical and scientific criteria and standards of museum operation and development" (Legislative Decree 112/98 art. 3 cg; DM 10 May 2001) where 8 of the Museum's operating areas with the relevant requirements and minimum operating standards are identified. Area 7 defines the Museum’s relations with the public. The duty of the Museum is to ensure adequate services to the public, established by standards, resulting in the corresponding rights of the visitor to enjoy the cultural heritage preserved in the Museum.

This charter of services and user rights is also based on indications from the Autonomous Region of Sardinia in Regional Law No. 14 of 09.20.2006 "Regulations regarding cultural heritage, institutions and places of culture", and the quality objectives for museums contained in the "Guidelines for the recognition of museums and museum collections" approved by resolution GR 36, 27/07/2005 (hereafter "Guidelines") and the ICOM (International Council of Museums) in the museum definition and code of ethics.
The Charter of visitor rights emphasizes the fundamental and necessary relationship between the Museum and its public by making explicit and clearly stating the services and related quality levels through which the museum engages with its visitors, in accordance with the relevant Law.
